Hi,

A while ago I had a couple of problems with my soundcard
(Terratec Aureon Space 7.1). The digital out was not functioning
due to a small bug in the source code. After this was reported
it was immediately fixed and I was able to play sounds with
aplay.
Since the latest Slackware came out I started to reinstall
everything and I also downloaded the latest alsa version. After
this I followed the instructions on the website for this particular
card (add some lines to the modules.conf and add a .asoundrc).

Unfortunately I am unable to get any sound from xmms and kde.
And also when I use aplay with a wave file that worked before it
now stays in a loop and doesn't play anything else then the first
few tones (over and over again). When I try to play the file in
Windows I also hear the first few tones (sounds like it's not part
of the original sound so it might be an error in the wave file) but
other than that it plays just fine.
I have also tried a few default Windows sounds. They play fine
except for the ending. Every wave file I play has some weird noise
at the end, like it is interpreting metadata as sound or something
like that.

As for xmms and kde...If I try to use xmms to play a sound and
press play then nothing happens. It just sits there at 00:00:00 and
the counter is not increasing. When I press play again then xmms
hangs and all I can do is kill it.
The same happens when I try to change the default settings and
change it to Alsa instead of "OSS Driver (libOSS.so).
I have tried every setting I can think of and nothing seems to make
any sound (except for aplay).
A sound player for kde tries to make a sound and the counter
starts running but nothing comes out. So I think that kde is trying
to push the output through the analog output instead of the
digital one. And that would explain why the mixer volume starts
at 0 since it's the default for Alsa (although I don't have to increase
the volume for the digital output; that one starts unmuted).

Can anyone help me with trying to get some sound out of my card
through the digital out? I use XMMS a lot and also kde so these
two are the most important apps for me.

Thanks,

Dennis
