Panu,

You mentioned the 2.4.20-8 kernel.  Sound like you might be running
Redhat 9 (without recent kernel updates).  If so, you might want to
check first to see if your system already has some lowlatency patches.
I did a lot of system patching/rebuilding before coming across a
message from a redhat employee stating that Redhat 9 already included
"all of those pieces of the low latency patch that were not defective".
It appears to me that some of the patches are there, but I have not
checked to see which pieces or their level of "effectiveness".
