I am running SuSE 8.2. When I run my standard 2.4.20 kernel, which has ALSA .9.0rc7, my ISA AWE64 card is completely recognized. I am testing out 2.6-test9, which originally had ALSA .9.7, and It has the following error when it starts.
Nov 8 21:57:15 jmorris kernel: ALSA sound/drivers/opl3/opl3_lib.c:133: OPL3: stat1 = 0xff
Nov 8 21:57:15 jmorris kernel: ALSA sound/drivers/opl3/opl3_lib.c:444: OPL2/3 chip not detected at 0x388/0x38a
Nov 8 21:57:15 jmorris kernel: ALSA sound/isa/sb/sb16.c:484: sbawe: no OPL device at 0x388-0x38a
I tried updating to .9.8, and it does seem to be a bit better in some areas, the above error is still there. I have tried comparing the opl3_lib.c from .9.0rc7 and .9.8 and .9.7, but I still can't get the FM port to be recognized when I run the 2.6 kernel. Any ideas? I have tried all mine and none of them worked. I am not a programmer, but I can alter the code and recompile to check it if anyone has any ideas. TIA for any help.
