I don't get it: xine and mplayer work fine after I did a clean install of the new alsa-0.9.8 driver, lib and utils. but I don't hear any sound out of xmms. even though the equalizer is working fine, so I guess there is a problem with the digital output. is there something to set up that I missed? xmms worked as long as I used the built in driver from the distribution (redhat 8.0 & 9, slackware 9.1) but as soon as I did install alsa drivers myself in order to get digital output / ac3-passtrough for xine/mplayer it stopped working.
