Obviously alsactl code did not change between 0.9.6 and 0.9.8, and since I've noticed some itchyness in /etc/asound.state since 0.9.7 (as reported in my previous email), I suppose that some code in 0.9.7+ may lead alsactl to segfault or at least to badly manage some internal stuff?
