I don't know if you're aware of it, but alsa-driver is included in the
kernel sources 2.6. You don't need to install the alsa-driver sources
or modules packages from Debian separatly anymore. In fact, doing so
might lead to strange errors. (It probably is possible to use newer
alsa-sources (1.0.x) instead of the ALSA in 2.6, but I don't know how
this works and it will be a bit tricky.)

You do however still need libasound and alsa-utils, of course, but use
the ALSA modules in the kernel-source first.
