Chipsets are re-branded all the time, with no regard for making it clear who produced the underlying hardware design. It would help if you located the entry in `lspci' for the card (which contains useful information, such as the vendor and device ID of the card), and figure out which OSS module you're using at the moment via `lsmod'.
