Hey,

I just upgraded my kernel from 2.4 to 2.6, and so am using the inbuilt ALSA
support. I'm using Debian Sid and have installed the alsa-base and alsa-util
packages.

When I boot, I get an error similar to this:

Starting ALSA (version 0.9)... cs46xx cs46xx-failed

It's something like that - I would copy/paste but dmesg doesn't show it ?

Anyway, in alsamixer I can see my card and everything, and can adjust the
settings, but I can't play anything... I just get errors in XMMS and the
Gnome mixer. I don't know how else to test? Oh actually also tried cat'ing
a .au file into /dev/dsp and /dev/audio, but it just sounds very distorted.

Can someone help me with troubleshooting this?

Cheers
