Some soundblaster cards will only work at 48000. They do not have the hardware possibility of running at 44100. Stupid? Yes. But people still buy them-- a soundcard is a soundcard. And Creative makes sure that this fact is well hidden. I spent aobut 20 min to discover that an MP3+ only did 48000. I returned it. You can resample.
