Howdy. This is probably in the docs somewhere but I could not find it
myself when looking through alsa-project.org. If you know where this is
documented, please point me at it.

I recently ditched my M-Audio USB Audiophile in favour of the lower
quality but at least supported device the SOundblaster MP3+. Now I have
sound (gawd I how I missed you).

=)

My problem now is that the volume for the USB device always defaults to
zero every time I reboot or start and exit KDE. I have to manually run
alsamixer every time and manually set the PCM volume which is gettinga tad
tiresome. I checked the man for alsamixer (there is none), the online
docs for asoundrc, some of the Wiki, etc. and could not find anything
explaining how to set the default volume level. This seems like a FAQ but
damned if I could find the answer.

So, how does one go about either saving the current state of alsamixer
(preferable) or manually specifying the desired ALSA mixer state system
wide?

I am guessing this happens in .asoundrc but the docs for this don't once
mention "volume" or "level".

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
