Can anyone tell me why I get this error whenever I try to start an application (game) in Wine?

ALSA sound/drivers/mpu401/mpu401_uart.c:226: cmd: 0x3f failed at 0x330 (status = 0xff, data = 0xff)
ALSA sound/drivers/mpu401/mpu401_uart.c:206: cmd: tx timeout (status = 0xff)

I've just upgraded to kernel 2.6.3 and that seems to to have solved the "sound-slot-1" problem, but I still can't get sound in Wine.

Can someone please help me out with this?

Don't set 'mpu_port' for snd-intel8x0 module. It appears that MPU port is at another location or non-existent (0xff means that nothing is on the i/o port).

Jaroslav,

I went back into modules.conf and removed all reference to midi and mpu401 and then rebooted. I still get the same thing and snd-mpu401_uart is still loading and is still trying to access port 0x330. At one point I changed the option statement in modules.conf to "options snd-intel8x0 mpu_port=0x300" but after rebooting, the mpu401 was still trying to access port 0x330. I've checked my kernel config to make sure I did not have the mpu401_uart module selected. I don't. When I built ALSA (1.0.2c) I did not specify and mpu401 support. Where could this be comming from?

Thanks,
Rick Knight
