Thanks to Takashi Iwai!!

It works fine.

modules.conf file options:

######################################
alias char-major-116 snd
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
alias sound-slot-0 snd-intel8x0
######################################

The card is a Nvidia Nforce 2 with the chip Realtek ALC650 rev 3.

With the file intel8x0.patch from cvs (release 1.0.3rc3 doesn't work too) it works.
Just replace the old file alsa-driver-xxx/pci/intel8x0.patch with the newest (provided by Takashi Iwai or the cvs version).

Which distribution and which ALSA version are you using?

Distribution RH9 and alsa version 1.0.2

Did the configure script detect that you're using RedHat? (see the
file config.log in the alsa-driver directory)

it's missing change_page_attr() used in intel8x0.c for workaround of mx440 h/w bug. fixed now on cvs. replace alsa-driver/pci/intel8x0.patch with the attached one.
