Yes, of course: "scummvm -e adlib". scummvm then doesn't use any midi
at all, but directly plays the internally generated sounds. It cannot
do this using the ALSA interfaces, but instead is one of the hundreds
of applications that relies on ALSA's OSS PCM emulation.

That probably is the one you need a midi cable for. And an external
midi synth. Normally the first wavetable synth like on the
soundblaster cards is client 65:0,...
