I'm wondering about how does /dev/ might be configured... I'm using devfs and linux-2.6.3 at this time (planned to upgrade to 2.6.4 really quickly).
Here I have :
/dev/snd/: total 0 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 0 1970-01-01 01:00 controlC0 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 24 1970-01-01 01:00 pcmC0D0c crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 16 1970-01-01 01:00 pcmC0D0p crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 25 1970-01-01 01:00 pcmC0D1c crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 17 1970-01-01 01:00 pcmC0D1p crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 1 1970-01-01 01:00 seq crw-rw---- 1 root audio 116, 33 1970-01-01 01:00 timer
/dev/sound/: total 0 crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 12 1970-01-01 01:00 adsp crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 4 1970-01-01 01:00 audio crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 3 1970-01-01 01:00 dsp crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 0 1970-01-01 01:00 mixer crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 1 1970-01-01 01:00 sequencer crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 8 1970-01-01 01:00 sequencer2
/dev/:
total 0
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 10 2004-03-16 10:34 /dev/adsp -> sound/adsp
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 11 2004-03-16 10:34 /dev/audio -> sound/audio
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 9 2004-03-16 10:34 /dev/dsp -> sound/dsp
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 11 2004-03-16 10:34 /dev/mixer -> sound/mixer
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 15 2004-03-16 10:34 /dev/sequencer -> sound/sequencer
lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 16 2004-03-16 10:34 /dev/sequencer2 -> sound/sequencer2
Is there any mistake ??
I've never heard about /dev/snd/* before... what are the main differences w/ /dev/sound/* ?
Sorry for all my questions, but Alsa is really making me upset at this time ! (I want sound on my new box... I need to see my mic running too, I have a Linux Party soon and I've to stream the conferences... so w/o testing, it would be harder !)
