OK things are looking real good now thanks to your help. Now I actually
have all devices accounted for in sndstat. I have just one more question.
I have been able to play midi files through timidity all along but I
cannot get sound from the speakers using playmidi or aplaymidi. When I run
aplaymidi --port=65 tink.mid (also tried ports 63,64 and 128) it acts like
it is playing the file but I hear nothing. Do I need to get some sort of
sound fonts for this to work? (read something about this while searching
Google) Or is thre something else I am doing wrong? The end result I am
looking for is to be able to play midi files through my Finale music
program running through Wine so I am using playmidi to try and zero in on
the problem.

Thanks for all the help,
Brett
