I can't figure out for the life of me what is wrong with my SuSE 9.0
install, I have not been able to get sound at all ever since I
installed it 2 months ago. I do get sound in Windows, and sound was
working fine in RedHat (my previous linux distro). I have a Sound
Blaster Live!, my kernel is 2.4.21, alsa is 1.0.4

The drivers appear to be working fine:

>From /var/log/boot.msg-
Starting sound driver: snd-emu10k1 done

>From lsmod (trimmed for relevancy):

snd-page-alloc 6388 0 [snd-emu10k1 snd-pcm]

I have adjusted the mutes/volumes in various mixers. All my sound
apps play happily with no errors. Example:
aplay goodidea.wav
Playing WAVE 'goodidea.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 11000 Hz, Mono

What am I missing?? On the advice of another wise linux user, I
burned a Knoppix CD and booted to that, and sound works fine. I'm
almost positive its not the drivers, and think its something funky in
alsa. But I could be wrong.

Thanks in advance for any sage advice.
