Hello!

Does somebody know what I can do to get my soundcard to work? The
manufacturer is not specified, but the chip is YMF744B. I have been
told that this might not be compatible, as the alsa-site only cites a
YMF744 as compatible. Does anybody have a definite answer on this?

The card is detected by alsaconf, and the module ymfpci is loaded. But
there seems to be a hardware-accessing problem that prevents the card
from functioning.

In "dmesg" I get the error message
Yamaha DS-XG PCI: probe of 0000:03:06.0 failed with error -16

In "lspci" I get
0000:03:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: Yamaha Corporation YMF-744B

I don't know if that looks normal, but please note IRQ 177.
When I look at /proc/interrupts I see
177: 0 IO-APIC-level uhci_hcd:usb2 0/0

which I suppose would mean a conflict? But I tried disabling USB in
the BIOS and after that the soundcard still had IRQ177 but there was
no entry for 177 in /proc/interrupts.

Does someone have an idea what I could try that might help?
Thank you very much.

My /proc/asound/version:
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.9rc2 (Thu Mar 24
10:33:39 2005 UTC).
