Hello! Does somebody know what I can do to get my soundcard to work? The manufacturer is not specified, but the chip is YMF744B. I have been told that this might not be compatible, as the alsa-site only cites a YMF744 as compatible. Does anybody have a definite answer on this?
The card is detected by alsaconf, and the module ymfpci is loaded. But there seems to be a hardware-accessing problem that prevents the card from functioning. In "dmesg" I get the error message Yamaha DS-XG PCI: probe of 0000:03:06.0 failed with error -16 In "lspci" I get 0000:03:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: Yamaha Corporation YMF-744B [DS-1S Audio Controller] (rev 02) Subsystem: Yamaha Corporation DS-XG PCI Audio CODEC Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 177 Region 0: Memory at dfdf8000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=32K] Region 1: I/O ports at dc00 [size=64] Region 2: I/O ports at d800 [size=4] Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 1 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1- D2+ AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- 00: 73 10 10 00 03 00 10 02 02 00 01 04 00 20 00 00 10: 00 80 df df 01 dc 00 00 01 d8 00 00 00 00 00 00 20: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 73 10 10 00 30: 00 00 00 00 50 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 0a 01 05 19 I don't know if that looks normal, but please note IRQ 177. When I look at /proc/interrupts I see 177: 0 IO-APIC-level uhci_hcd:usb2 0/0 which I suppose would mean a conflict? But I tried disabling USB in the BIOS and after that the soundcard still had IRQ177 but there was no entry for 177 in /proc/interrupts. Does someone have an idea what I could try that might help? Thank you very much. My /proc/asound/version: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.9rc2 (Thu Mar 24 10:33:39 2005 UTC).
