Hi there,
I tried yesterday to get my new card working, a Creative Audigy SE.
I followed instructions as per
http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=Creative+Labs&card=Sound+Blaster+Audigy+SE.&chip=CA0106&module=ca0106
Which says:
-- Card working on ALSA # 1.0.11rc2 or later. --
but no luck: I get sound, but only very ugly hiss distorted sound. So
the supposed fix in this driver did not work for me.
I have a DELL Dimension 8250 with onboard audio (which I disabled in the
BIOS).
The distro is Debian Sarge (3.1).
I downloaded sources, compiled the drivers.
Recognition etc. by alsaconf went fine, but playing say a .WAV file
under Gnome desktop sounded horrible.
I played around a bit with the mixer, getting slightly better results,
but it is still very distorted.
It could be that after the configure;..make install the new (freshly
compiled) alsa drivers were not used;
I use a Debian distro so maybe I had to do somehing special here?
Is there a way to confirm this?
Any one knows about a debian package (say in experimental) containing
the latest ALSA code?
Kind regards,
Indra Polak
