I recently put together a SFF PC. The motherboard came with on-board
sound, but because I plan to use this PC for various multimedia tasks
(playing music, movies, etc.) I wanted to get a little better sound
card. So I purchased a Chaintech AV-710 card. Doing some searching on
the web I found that this card was given pretty good reviews for being a
high quality, low cost card. Although the card is not specifically
listed in the Alsa database, I found that it was supported under
Linux/Alsa, as it is an Envy 24PT-based card, and uses the snd-ice724
module.
I have the SPDIF output of the card connected to my A/V receiver. Using
various sources on the web I managed to get this part of it working.
However, as I want to explore the full features of the card I have been
trying to get the analog outputs to work also, but so far I haven't had
any luck. It's my understanding that with Alsa I should be able to use
both the SPDIF and analog outputs at the same time.
I've tried a bunch of different settings, but I just can't seem to get
anything out of the analog outputs. I don't know whether I'm missing
something obvious or not, but I'm running out of things to try. I don't
know if I don't have my asound.conf and/or asound.state files
misconfigured or what.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
