Hello there,

I am having an issue recording with a Griffin iMic (using arecord), that
issue being it doesn't work at all. Here is my sound setup:

**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 0: rev50 [VIA 82C686A/B rev50], device 0: VIA 82C686A/B rev50 [VIA
82C686A/B rev50]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
arecord: device_list:201: control open (1): No such file or directory
**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 2: system [iMic USB audio system], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Here is my command (I understand this isn't writing to a file, I've just
been using it to see if the mic is responding on the screen):

# arecord -Dpd -fcd -v
RIFF$ÿÿWAVEfmt D¬±dataÿÿRecording WAVE 'stdout' : Signed 16 bit Little
Endian, Rate 44100 Hz,Stereo
Hardware PCM card 2 'iMic USB audio system' device 0 subdevice 0

Its setup is:
stream : PLAYBACK
access : RW_INTERLEAVED
format : S16_LE
subformat : STD
channels : 2
rate : 44100
exact rate : 44100 (44100/1)
msbits : 16
buffer_size : 16384
period_size : 5513
period_time : 125011
tick_time : 1000
tstamp_mode : NONE
period_step : 1
sleep_min : 0
avail_min : 5513
xfer_align : 5513
start_threshold : 1
stop_threshold : 16384
silence_threshold: 0
silence_size : 0
boundary : 1073741824
arecord: pcm_read:1164: read error: Inappropriate ioctl for device

I have been unable to track down the true meaning of this command, but
it is consistant no matter how I tweak the settings. If I use arecord
with my onboard sound (capture device on card 0) it works just fine.
Audio playback through the iMic also works fine. Any idea what the
problem might be?
