It is possible to make this work by installing to: /lib/modules/`uname -r`/updates/ At least with the versions of the module utilities in fc those modules will take precedence at module load time to the ones in the proper kernel tree (ie: you can upgrade the alsa kernel modules with a separate package). -- Fernando > > And finally, what should be done, if anything, with the kernel's > > soundcore.ko module? > > Nothing.
