Hi,
After compiling ALSA packages from CVS of April 17, 2005, I encountered a
rather strange problem. While playing audio files w/MPlayer (ALSA's OSS
device), I dropped Centericq, then restarted it. Centericq uses SoX to play
various sounds to indicate when someone comes online, msgs, etc.
When I restarted it, I got the following error, which killed MPlayer and
Centericq. Also, I was unable to unload the ALSA modules after this, getting
an error that the device was in use. System is Slackware 10, kernel
2.4.24-ck1, SB AWE64 soundcard.
One interesting side-note: I have Centericq configured to use the dmix
plugin with SoX, which may or may not have something to do with the problem.
Also, ALSA CVS of march 23 does not have this problem. Here's the error:
