hi,

I have been doing some tests and it appears that version 1.0.10 of alsa
driver and lib are better than 1.0.11 with my configuration :
-> With alsa drivers and library 1.0.11, on the kernel 2.6.13-15.8-smp
(from a SuSE distro), I get many xruns when I start a client (such as
Qjackctl or fst) upon JACK. Even when processing no audio data and only
lauching firefox gives a bunch of xruns. And the sound is awful.
-> exactly the same thing with 1.0.11rc5
-> Whereas with alsa drivers and library 1.0.10 I get a "stable" state,
no xruns like that.

What is strange in those xruns is that :
- they arrive when an application is launched
- their "time" is always very short, almost constant : around 30
microsecond. (By the way, what does this time exactly mean ?)

I run "Jack" with a buffer size of 64, and tried with 128, but it didn't
change anything.
I am using the snd-hda-intel driver.

If you have any clue or advice, thanks in advance,

matthieu
