Dear friends, I have an agere systems hda modem on my laptop. It accessible through alsa.
I have installed the last version of slmodemd, compiled with alsa. I alsa installed alsa 1.0.11, which has full support for the modem. If I write aplay -l the modem is correctly identified as card: 0, device :6, ATI HDA SB, SiS 3054. I launch slmodemd, I use the command: slmodemd --alsa hw:0,6 --country=UK SLOMDEMD identifies the modem, and creates tty/SL0. I then create a connection in kppp. Everything works fine, but: 1) I do not know what settings to use in kppp. Should I put Software or Hardware control? What about the carriage return? 2) I have tried with both HW and SW control. I always get answer NO CARRIER or NO DIALTONE. The volume of the modem is clearly down, because when I try to connect, no noise whatsoever is generated. Help!
