Right.  I think some "speaker-set" presets for each driver would be
nice so that the control-center GUI can simply choose one from the
list.

Yep.  There are some prepared materials in the API level but they are
not really working.

Technically speaking, the per-app volume control is relatively easy to
implement unless you want to export the volume control to other
processes.
