hi

1.
using ac3dec with vdr or /usr/bin/speaker-test with plug:surround51
(/usr/share/alsa/pcm/surround51.conf)
on a (crosschecked) sunnyline 5.1 headset it turns out here that the channels
arrangement on the analog output jacks does not
conform to the "reference" channels arrangement of the cmedia ms-windows
driver/user space sw...

a)
BTW in this operating mode the mixer controls have no effects here and sounds
seems to lack LFE.
VLC fails using the 5.1 mode of this device, too.

b)
is there a way to change the channel arrangement (especially C/LFE swap) in
userspace?

yes, ive read most of the availlable conf docs at the project site but this
rests as "cryptic code" to me,
who can read and understand this pcm conf stuff language? nor i can find a
starting point for
days now. ok, the driver loads and asound.state is restored but how are these
conf files involved, i cant
see the flow chain for now.

if the ac'97 patch source of the driver is incomplete or unadapted i would
gladly help out on the dev list
then.

and c-media corp. are cool guys, look there ;) http://www.cmedia.com.tw/ :

Product File
(Click to Download) Version Release Date OS Category
CMI9761 Please visit http://www.alsa-project.org/
Linux Hyperlink

:D ... so I hope the devs have got the "actual" specs availlable if they are
supposed to do support
work (in agreement?) for cmedia...

2.
to get software controls and equalizer ive first tried to pipe through mplayer
but expectedly
didnt work. can i use gstreamer...?

regards,
tom
