I need an external interface for playback of digital files (.wav, .mp3, etc.) using an i386 computer but without using the sound card of the computer. That is, I need an external interface (either USB or Firewire) which may be used with any of several machines. Recording capability is not required. The interface should be inexpensive ($100 to $200 US).
Are there any such interfaces which are compatible with ALSA? RLH Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
