Thank you for the reply, SoNicX.

Yes I have checked/unchecked every switch, no result. Well, other than
the analog/digital switch shutting off all sound to my analog speakers
(as it should). I didn't before try using different devices, but when
I try -Dplughw:0,x with speaker-test the only devices that work are
0,3,4 all of which seem to act as 4.0 channel devices (except that
device 3 maps Center to FL and LFE to FR).
