Hi Clemens. I don't know which way the OP is going about trying to get the 
SB16 ISA card setup, but on my machine that has an Ensoniq (ens1371) card on 
it, I added an old SB16 ISA card. Just running alsaconf picked the card up. 
Alright it first searched for PCI cards, and then IIRC asked if you wanted to 
search for other cards, or perhaps it was do a manual search. Anyway alsaconf 
found the card, and cat /proc/asound/cards shows it as.
SB16  0x220,irq5,dma1&5 (irq5 was unused), and the card, even though it's 
quite old, works just fine, along with the Ensoniq card.

This is on FC3. Debian Sarge is on the other machine, which has no ISA slots, 
so I can't try the SB16 on that, but Sarge has the alsaconf script, so see no 
reason why the card shouldn't set up ok using the alsaconf script.
