Actually the reason that the lines are commented is because they didn't seem to work. Then again there was a lot of other cruft in the file that the Ubuntu installer put there by default. If I wiped all the rest of the file and left just those two lines would that be sure to work? I know that the best thing would be just to try it and see what happens, but I have been forced to disable the on-board sound in bios for the moment because lack of a reliable music player has been causing friction in the family :-P Robert ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
