Can anyone tell me if the ALSA driver for the STAC9271 or STAC9271D supports
Dolby 5.1 passthrough via S/PDIF?
I have only limited experience with this, but I wish to build an HTPC with
Linux. I've played with an HP Slimline s3120n (ALC888 chipset) which has a
coax/RCA digital out. I was able to get sound working, but couldn't get AC3
passthrough to work for the life of me.
I wish to avoid that experience. I'm possibly looking at an Intel DG965WH
motherboard. (http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/dg965wh/index.htm)
If I am reading this right, I can get the STAC9271D chipset with S/PDIF
output.
Any help or experience would be appreciated!
