Running Main kde menu>Settings>Sound & Multimedia>Sound System> hardware tab>ALSA from drop-down list>Apply automatic sound system restart is successful running alsamixer: only shows usb webcam mic (don't know how to change devices in alsamixer) running alsaconf: shows PCI soundcard Ensoniq AudioPCI and all mixer settings are un-muted and nominal Running Main kde menu>Settings>Sound & Multimedia>Sound System> test sound silence starting xmms: no errors starting a song: song plays but with silence.
