Hi, I have a Acer Aspire 1420P and according to /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 my soundcard has a Realtek ALC269 codec. HD-Audio-Models.txt tells me that the according model=* option would be laptop-amic. For laptop-amic ALSA finds three microphones (under alsamixer Capture -> Input Source): Mic, Internal Mic, and Internal Mic 1.
When I select "Internal Mic 1" as input source (any only then), recording with arecord -f dav works just fine whereas leaving out the -f dav option does not record anything. However, I only have controls for "Mic" and "Internal Mic" but not for "Internal Mic 1" under Playback. I'm using Ubuntu, so the sound should be forwarded to pulseaudio. But pauvcontrol also only lists "Microphone" and "Internal Microphone" but not a thrid one and for these two microphone only noise is recorded. This fact combined with the fact that alsamixer (at least under "Playback") also just lists two microphones lets me conclude that the error is not in pulseaudio but in ALSA.
