Subject: Canada_takes_6-1_Pro_Tour_win_over_Chicago_/_Le_Canada_rem -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 15, 2008 Canada takes 6-1 Pro Tour win over Chicago (Chicago, IL) The Canadian Senior Womens NationalSoftball Team continued its winning ways last night with a 6-1 win over theChicago Bandits of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league. The red and whitewas propelled by a 4-for-4 performance by Sheena Lawrick (Calgary, AB), threehomeruns and a solid pitching tandem of Lauren Bay Regula (Trail, BC) and DioneMeier (Saskatoon, SK). Canada struck first in the top of the second inning whenLawrick connected with a leadoff solo homerun to give Canada the early 1-0lead. In the fourth, Lawrick continued to swing her hot bat, leading off theinning with a double to left field and later scored on a single by ErinCumpstone (Saskatoon, SK). After Chicago cut the lead in half in the bottom half of thefourth, Erin McLean (Whitby, ON) hit a solo homerun of her own in the fifth,followed by back-to-back singles by Jennifer Yee (North Delta, BC) and JenniferSalling (Port Coquitlam, BC). Lawrick then ripped another double down the thirdbase line, allowing Yee to score from second base. Two innings later, Sallingput the game out of reach in the top of the seventh with a two-run homerun. In the pitchers circle, Bay Regula allowed one run on threehits, striking out four batters in four innings of work to earn the win. Meiercame on in relief in the bottom of the fifth, allowing two hits and a walk togo along with four strikeouts in three innings. Canada unleashed a 12 hit attack against the Bandits, led byLawricks four-for-four game (one single, two doubles and one homerun). McLean,Yee and Salling each collected two hits for Canada, while Kaleigh Rafter (Guelph,ON) and Cumpstone each added a single. The two teams will square off again this afternoon (3:05pmCDT) in the third game of the four-game set. Le Canada a ouvert le pointage en début dedeuxième manche lorsque Lawrick a claqué un coup circuit pour donner une avancede 1 à 0 à son équipe.
