In the round-robin match, which lasted only four inningsunder the runs ahead rule, DioneMeier (Saskatoon, SK) secured the victory by striking out four opposingbatters. Other strong Team Canada performances came from third baseman Erin McLean (Whitby, ON),who registered three runs and three RBIs and from shortstop Jennifer Salling (Port Coquitlam,BC), who collected two runs and three RBIs of her own. After just four days of action, the red and white have scored a total of 52runs with zero runs scored against, placing them at the top of the red pool.Team Australia, also 4-0, has gathered an impressive 28 runs with a onerun against. Things are shaping up to make for an outstanding match-up on July17th, when the two Olympic-bound squads go head to head in the final game ofpool play. In the white pool, Japan sits alone atop of the division with a 4-0 record,whereas the Venezuelan and Chinese Taipei teams rounded out the top three withonly one loss each. The Senior Women will face the Oregon Elite (3-2) tonight, Wednesday, July 16that 6:30p.m. PDT.
