Subject: Houston Aces at Portland Houston, Texas HOUSTON ACES at the Rose Cup Tournament, Portland, OR June 23-25, 2006 Rose Cup Tournament - Delta Park, Portland, Oregon Temps in the high 90's (F) all weekend The Houston Aces fastpitch club traveled to beautiful Portland Oregon on the weekend and came away with a disappointing 1-3 record. The Aces who having been gaining fastpitch attention with their strong play in 2006, finalist in the Red Rock tournament and winning the ISC Qualifier for SouthWest United States, were missing 4 key starters due to family and work commitment reasons for the Rose Cup tournament. The lack of timely hitting and bench strength contributed heavily to the record on the weekend. Though not having all hands on deck, the Aces continued their strong pitching and effective defense. Hitting was the culprit in this tournament, where the team managed to only score 1 run through 4 games. Each game was low scoring, close to the end but the Aces could not capitalize on the chances.
