Subject: Canada_rolls_over_Botswana_at_Junior_Women's_World_Champio -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 22, 2007 Canada rolls over Botswana at Junior Womens World Championships The Canadian Junior Women's National Team won their second game at the ISF Junior Women's World Championships today with a 15-0 mercy rule win over Botswana. The win improved Canada's record to 2-0. Botswana, an emerging African Nation in Softball, was no match for Canada but sang and danced the entire game and showed some great spirit and love for the game. Canada banged out nine hits, drew four walks and used three Botswana errors as they scored eleven runs in the first inning and four more in the second. Charlotte Dolan (Coquitlam, BC) led the team with three hits including two doubles and a home run that went over the wall (225 feet) and cleared a 16 foot fence on the other side of it. Corrine Doornberg (Langley, BC) had two singles and a walk while Jesslyn Hodge (Vancouver, BC) drilled two singles. Stephanie LeClair (Kitchener, ON) added a double and Tanya McLean (Delta, BC) added a single to the Canadian attack. Three Canadian pitchers combine on a four inning one hitter as Leah McIntosh (Whitby, ON), Jillian Lafrance (Calgary, AB) and Megan Evans (Brooklin, ON) allowed only one hit and struck out seven. Canada faces the United States on Saturday at 10:30am ET.
