SoftballCanada Announces Olympic Team Selection Camp Invitees
(Ottawa,ON) Less than a week after Canada won the gold medal
at the 2007 Universiadein Bangkok, Thailand, Softball Canada
is pleased to announce the list of twenty(20) athletes who have
been invited to the Olympic Team Selection Camp andChina Cup
which will take place in Beijing, China from September 30thto
October 15th , 2007. This will be the final stage of the ongoingselection
process for the 2008 Olympic Team, as the coaching staff have
beenthoroughly evaluating the players throughout the summer.
Ofthese twenty players, fifteen will be selected to represent
Canada at the 2008Olympics in Beijing, China. The coaching staff
will also keep two or three otherplayers as reserves. The final
roster will be announced later this fall.
Canadahas come a long way from the previous Olympic Games in
Athens, Greece in 2004,where the team finished in fifth place.
The Canadian team earned a berth in the2008 Olympics with a fifth
place finish at the 2006 ISF World Championships,and followed
that up in 2007 with three podium finishes in internationalevents,
including the gold medal at the Universiade in Bangkok and a
silvermedal at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Softball Canada annonce les invités aucamp de sélection pour
léquipe Olympique
(Ottawa, ON) Moins dune semaine aprèsavoir remporté la médaille
dor à lUniversiade de 2007 à Bangkok, Thaïlande,Softball Canada
est fier dannoncer la liste de vingt (20) athlètes qui ont étéinvités
au camp de sélection pour léquipe Olympique ainsi que la Coupe
de laChine qui aura lieu à Beijing du 30 septembre au 15 octobre,
2007. Ceci sera ladernière étape du processus de sélection continuel
pour léquipe Olympique de2008. Le personnel des entraîneurs
a évalué les athlètes tout au long de lété.
Parmices vingt joueuses, quinze seront sélectionnées pour représenter
le Canada auxJeux Olympiques de 2008 à Beijing, en Chine. Le
personnel des entraîneursgardera aussi deux ou trois autres joueuses
pour agir comme réservistes en casde blessure. Léquipe finale
sera annoncée plus tard cet automne.
LeCanada sest amélioré beaucoup depuis leur dernière participation
aux JeuxOlympiques à Athènes, Grèce en 2004, où léquipe à terminé
en cinquièmeposition. Léquipe canadienne sest méritée une place
aux Olympique de 2008 enterminant en cinquième position lors
du Championnat du Monde ISF en 2006. Cesuccès sest continué
en 2007 alors que léquipe sest placé sur le podium àtrois reprises,
incluant la médaille dor à lUniversiade à Bangkok et unemédaille
dargent aux Jeux Panaméricains à Rio de Janeiro, Brésil.
