Subject: Paula McGovern appointed as new Head Coach of Aussie Pride -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Media Release 19 November 2007 Paula McGovern appointed as new Head Coach of Aussie Pride Aftera significant application and interview process, Softball Australia is pleasedto announce the appointment of Paula McGovern as the new Head Coachof the Australian Under 19 Womens team, Aussie Pride. Paula holds a Bachelor of Education and is a Level 6 Softball Coach withsignificant experience at the local, state and national level. During2002-04 Paula held an Australian Sports Commission Coaching Scholarship andcompleted a Masters of Applied Science (Sports Coaching). Inrecent years Paula has been the Chief Selector for the Open Womens Teamoften travelling with the Team Internationally, was Head Coach of theAustralian Team in the World University Games (2004 & 2006) and wasemployed as Softball Australias Talent Development Coordinator(2006-07). Inthe role of Aussie Pride Head Coach, Paula is responsible for implementing aprogram over the next 3 ½ years, culminating in the team competing in theInternational Softball Federations Junior Womens WorldChampionship, Cape Town South Africa, 2011. Paulareplaces Leanne Evans, who as Head Coach over a 7 year period led Aussie Prideto two bronze medal finishes in 2003 and 2007.
