At Azaleos we used the CTP of Velocity (now AppFabric) in production for over a year when I was there. Administration overhead was really minimal, pretty much set it and forget it unless the host takes a tumble.
You'll want to connection pool yourself on client side for max throughput, I don't know how the others do at it...
