Are you suggesting that protecting privacy is essential and protecting
the law can't be because some countries lack sufficient respect for the
law (and therefore might misuse ALTO information)?
I am suggesting that protecting privacy is essential *for some
developers that I have spoken to who are interested in using the overlay
network I am developing*.
How ALTO handles privacy will then control how and when I can use ALTO
to optimize that overlay. The more I can use ALTO, the better it is for
ISPs (at least in theory).
