This is a general HTTP thing.  You can't get authoritative information about 
any resource from anywhere but that resource.

It is possible for the IRD to be hosted on a different server than the non-IRD 
resource.  In that case, the IRD resource might be based on outdated 
information.  You also have to consider an adversarial model for the two.
