Different stages of the flight (pad/ascent/descent/landed) use the radio
in different ways, so I'm betting you're most interested in either pad
or landed mode. Both of those transmit telemetry frames once a second
and an RDF beacon once every five seconds, for something less than 10%
radio duty cycle.
Device Current Duty cycle Average Current
GPS 25mA 100% 25mA
TX 36mA 10% 3.6mA
Rest 25mA 100% 25mA
53.6mA
(the 'rest' number is conservatively high). That means a 900mAh battery
should operate the TeleMetrum for around 16 hours.
I'm not sure we've ever done a test of battery life by running it
completely flat; that would provide better data than this admittedly
rough estimate.
