I've built many (many) boards using an electric griddle. Hotplates aren't really flat enough from what I've seen, and hot air rework guns don't heat evenly enough. There are lots of tutorials on how to do this on the net. Getting the SAW filter soldered well can be tricky; if your GPS performance isn't great, you may want to check that. You'll need to calibrate the telemetry radio in your unit with a reasonably accurate frequency counter. -- -keith
