Thanks!  The beads were actually already on the cable I decided to
cannibalize, and after thinking about it, I decided to leave them on.  I
actually pulled the cable out from them to feed it through the fin root,
then carefully slid them back on before attaching the cable to the feed
point.

I used to go every year, then kind of stopped, then was back one year
with my daughter on the way home from her first year at Oberlin.  We
hadn't realized that the "ARRL" scholarship she'd won was actually one
of the ones sponsored by DARA, and that meant a picture of her was in
the Hamvention program that year.  It was a complete hoot walking around
all weekend with people we'd never met stop us to congratulate her.  ;-)

I've given talks in different Hamvention forums a number of times over
the years.  I was kind of a 'regular' in both the packet and AMSAT
forums for a number of years, in fact.

No plans to go this year.
