Yeah, we really want to avoid firing pyro charges near the ground as
that can start fires or cause other injury.

So we've looked into what it would take to figure out that we've booted
up after a power failure in-flight and try and get back to flying the
rocket and have mostly decided that it's pretty hard to manage.

Switching to a different mode that doesn't enable any pyro charges but
does enable logging and telemetry is something we hadn't thought about
and might be a reasonable compromise? Essentially discover that you're
falling and switch into telemetry/logging mode? Could be automatically
transitioned from idle mode to this new mode when the height changes (in
either direction) by more than a given amount. It would be nice to also
be able to switch to this mode if power were interrupted after a hard
landing, say after sitting on the ground in idle mode for more than an
hour or so?
