Actually, it was 8 KBytes -> 64 KBytes, but that only changed (I think)
in 2.4.2.  In 2.4.1p1 you still need to tweak the source.

But I don't think that's what's happening to you.  This would only be
a problem if you had lots and lots of disklist entries.

What happens when you run amcheck now that you've fixed disklist?

What is in /tmp/amanda/sendsize*debug on paperbark after a failed amdump?

UDP size has nothing to do with system size, so yes, you could potentially
have the problem.
