You can just tweak the amverify script to recognize whatever TAR
programs you like. 2.4.2-beta2's is less strict about naming of tar
programs; ti will accept anything that has the same basename as the
configured tar.
As for restoring, there shouldn't be any problem either. amrecover
looks for `tar' at the end of the backup program name, and runs the
configured GNUTAR. In case of amrestore, you have to run the actual
restore program anyway, so it doesn't matter how GNU tar is called in
the restore machine, as long as you know it :-)
