How does Amanda assume which tape to use?

I now have 4 tapes to work with. Since I only have a single tape unit and
I am limited to the amount of tapes I can use (please don't ask) - I force
amanda to do a full dump on sat and sun and then i leave the
tape drive empty and let amanda run her weekely incrementals
to the holding disk space.

I know my tapecycle # should match the number of tapes I am using.
Even if I change my tapecycle number to 4, I still have to label and
force a re-label of each tape.

When I run amcheck amanda suggests a tape to use or tells me to put in a
new tape.

amanda@sundev1 [daily] % amcheck daily

My current amanda.conf

tapecycle 8 tapes # the number of tapes in rotation

labelstr "^daily[0-9][0-9]*$" # label constraint regex: all tapes must
match

Here is some other output that has prompted me to ask about how Amanda
assumes what tape to use:

********************************************************

amanda@sundev1 [amanda] % amadmin daily tape
The next Amanda run should go onto tape daily111 or a new tape.
amanda@sundev1 [amanda] %

amanda@sundev1 [amanda] % amflush daily
