This will also prevent amdump when clients are not responding, which
could be more than what's wanted. This might be a little better:
amcheck -s configname && amdump configname
This just runs the server (including tape) checks. If you're running
2.4.2 and just want the tape checks, use -t instead of -s.
Now the next question is, why? Most folks would like to see the backups
done vs. not done, so why not go ahead and let them try to go into the
holding disk if the tape is not right? Yes, it will eventually fill up,
and Amanda will detect and handle that, but better to let it try and have
at least some data you can amflush later than not doing the dumps at all,
I would think.
